Canadian River Wagon Bridge -- May 2010

While travelling back from Oklahoma I stopped in Canadian, Texas overnight.

pioneer bridge

I noticed this wonderful bridge from the freeway and decided to stop the following day to take a closer look.

This bridge was originally built for pioneers.

Here is a train picture that I took from the middle of the pioneer bridge.

I thought the shadow of the bridge was interesting.

This picture of BNSF train engines was taken a few steps away from the entrance to the bridge.

Nice shot of the river, the bridge and the new freeway.

Here is the entrance to the bridge.   Hope you get to visit this wonderful bridge someday!

You have a place called Canadian, Texas. I wonder if the Canadians reciprocated.

Hi Liz,

What a great bridge and post about it.  Where in Oklahoma did you visit?

No climbing on railing system. Well if that isn't an invitation for someone like me to climb on the railing system. Good thing I'm not young anymore. LOL

Hi Judi, we went to Davis Oklahoma for a train weekend at a quarry.

Jim, I don't know if they have a Texas, Canada.  How clever.

Hi Russel, I would be afraid of all that rust, tetnus and all that, oooohhh!  But it was interesting traversing the bridge and thinking about the people in wagons doing it a long time ago.  Makes me appreciate air conditioning and shock absorbers.
