San Antonio Riverwalk

These pictures were taken the Saturday after Thanksgiving 2010.  The riverboats navigate most of the river walk, and if you want to take one, just wait at one of the numerous stops to be picked up.  You can buy one way tickets or multiple ride tickets.  The boats are a great way to see the river quickly.

San Antonio Riverwalk

Most people prefer to stroll along the River Walk, and it is now wheelchair friendly.

convention center on the river walk

The San Antonio convention center is located along the river.  That would be pretty neat to ride back and forth from your hotel to the convention center on the water taxis each day of your convention.

elevator for San Antonio River Walk

Here is an elevator station to get you to street level if you don't want to take the stairs.  Also, I got a part of the modern sculpture in the background.  It is the same color as the Golden Gate Bridge.

The landscaping along the river is lovely as well.  There are benches for people to sit and relax and enjoy the surrounding nature or just sit and "people watch".

cafe along the San Antonio Riverwalk

See the cute ducks in the water.  They are just adorable.  I like the colorful umbrellas on the outdoor cafes as well.  It adds a lively and festive feel to the San Antonio River Walk.  I hope you get to visit there soon, it makes a great day trip or weekend get-a-way.

I also did a blog about my visit to The Alamo that same day.  Check back in a few days for my blog about the Texas Capitol building at Austin.

Liz, the River Walk is such a great place!    Went on vacation there a few years ago, and cancelled days after just to stay in San Antonio, very fun!

So BEAUTIFUL!  See I told you your "teaser" would have me back looking at photos!!  My husband and I were going to take the train from Tucson to San Antonio for our honeymoon, but we had so many out of state guests we just stayed put.  One day soon!!!

Hi Greg:  I did have a good day that day.

Lauren:  They seem to have really improved the river walk over the last 20 - 30 years.  It is just lovely now and the city is expanding the river walk.

Joan: I can imagine someone could spend quite a bit of time there, there are so many things to do there.

Cara:  I'm glad you came back.  Now I need to do the pictures of the capitol building in Austin.  It is so hard to narrow it down, I might need to do a 2 parter.
