Do You Love Trains? Steam Train UP844 in October & November 2011

Do You Love Trains?  Steam trains are rare these days, and Union Pacific runs its UP844 only a few times a year as a goodwill gesture.  These pictures are from the October - November 2011 run from Cheyenne, Wyoming.

UP844

Here UP844 is crossing a trestle going over a small river.  There were about 20 of us on an adjacent bridge taking this photo.

video man

This man followed the train from Wyoming to Colorado.

Here is a train engine that we saw on one of the days that the train wasn't running.  This particular engine looks like the one I saw near Austin Texas at Cedar Park.

Here is another of the same model engine.  The short stubby nose makes it easy for the driver to see out the front window, instead of having to look out the side window.

sandstorm

Here is a picture of UP 844.  Can you see the sand from the sand storm?  I stayed in the car and the wind was so strong it was rocking the car.

UP844

I think I took this one from the car while the train was moving and the car was moving.  It's a little blurry.

Was it too cold to take a dip in the river? It looks awesome... I live to be able to see clean water and the bottom of the river bed. Trains are cool too.
